• AfriNIC resource member accounts face some security ¹⁾ risks! The reader (not only a resource member) should be aware or reminded of its great values.

  * A RIR resource member account, such as those provided 
    by AfriNIC to its members, shall serve as 
    * an entry point to the election center, in order to 
      exercise a voting right or to designate a proxy; 
    * an interface where to register and manage user 
      accounts attached to the resource membership;
    * an interface where to request INRs (Internet 
      Number Resources), including IPv4, IPv6 blocks and 
      ASN numbers;
    * the place where an Intra-RIR Transfer (IntraRT) 
      of INRs is started;
    * ... ;

  * Given the above values, be aware that the AfriNIC 
    registered user accounts, belonging to your resource 
    member account, are actually at security risk (ISPA ZA 
    has alerted ((https://ispa.org.za/press_releases/ispa-urges-afrinic-members-protect-credentials/)) 
    its members at the beginning of this month):
    * first, you need to activate 2FA (Two-Factor 
      Authentication) on your My.AfriNIC.net account
    * you want to immediately *know* (//keep an eye 
      to//) who actually has the right to vote for 
      the upcoming AfriNIC Elections ((https://my.afrinic.net/elections)) 
      on behalf of your org;
    * to get a better security and protection, prior 
      to acting ((//;-) though, you should act the

      which discussed and provided valuable insights 
      on the management of MyAfriNIC credentials; in 
      order to achieve an optimal protection for 
      resource member accounts. 
    * Identify your collaborators who are responsible 
      as they are at a position to control resource 
      member accounts without prior notice and they 
      could eventually monetize (if they feel as you 
      are keeping ignorant and are not willing to 
      become aware of) advantages associated to it. 
    * Again, do kindly act the fastest you can please! 
      because, you don't want to definitely loss the 
      control of the INRs you hold; as received from a 
      delegation of the RIR AfriNIC.

11.7) A resolution in writing approved by not 
less than 75 per cent of members entitled to 
vote on such a resolution is as valid as if it 
had been passed at an Annual General Member 
Meeting.

13.5) Each of the following six sub-regions of 
Africa shall be represented by one  Director 
as indicated below:

    Northern Africa (seat 1);
    Western Africa (seat 2);
    Indian Ocean (seat 3);
    Central Africa (seat 4);
    Southern Africa (seat 5); and
    Eastern Africa (seat 6).

13.14) Notwithstanding the other provisions but 
subject to the provisions of article 13.10 of 
the bylaws, the Board shall, where it considers 
that it may not be reasonable to wait for the 
next Annual General Members’ Meeting to fill a 
casual vacancy that has arisen pursuant to 
article 14.1(ii), (iii) or (iv) below, have 
power at any time and from time to time to 
appoint any person to be a Director to fill 
a casual vacancy in the Board. Any Director 
so appointed shall hold office only until 
the next following Annual General Members’ 
Meeting at which Directors are elected and 
shall then be eligible for re-election.
